don't dis a salon on looks alone

don't dis a salon on looks alone

So….I wanted bangs (fringe- depending on which side of the planet you are on). I took three really clear photos of exactly what I wanted so there could be no descrepencies, I even talked through with the hair dresser what I wanted and he reiterated it back to me……

Well, you can probably guess from what I have said so far that it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. In fact it was so bad I have been wearing clips in my hair ever since -3 weeks now. (I guess I have him to thank for introducing me to gorgeous hair clips- I’ve found I love them!)

So, if you are looking for the right hair dresser and you don’t have any referrals here’s some tips and tricks to check for the perfect salon for You!

  • Talk to the hair dresser first when making your appointment and take note if they really listen. If they just put words into your mouth and don’t really hear what you have to say- don’t make the appointment  (It’s you who has to walk around with it- not them!)
  • Look for awards (not fair I guess, cause not everyone gets awards and can still be good- if they do have awards make sure they are for what you are wanting done. No point being impressed by a “best hair colorists” award, if you are wanting “hair extensions”
  • If no awards ask for who their best hair dresser is for the style you are wanting to get.  They may try to say “all the hair dressers are equally skilled”, but it’s your right to further ask “yes, but is there a hair dresser that tends to cut this style better?”
  • Take photos of how you want your hair cut. Make sure you’re clear if the photo isn’t exactly what you want as they may get the wrong idea and before you know it you look like James Bond instead of one of the Bond Girls. (I mean just because 007 was also in the photo doesn’t mean you wanted to look like him too!)
  • Don’t be afraid to speak up during the hair cut if you feel too much is being cut off. If you need clarification on what they are doing half way through cause it doesn’t look right- say something- better to speak now than regret later.
  • And lastly but by far not the least- listen to your gut feeling!

There’s often a gem of a hair cut in the least expected places!
