I have very straight hair, it’s a family trait and I do love it – most of the time. There are some times though when I just crave a bit of volume, some nice natural waves to shake up the routine of long straight hair. I have never been into using a curling iron, as it seems more like frying my hair than curling, and the end results seem a bit artificial for my liking.
I actually won my Vidal Sassoon hot rollers at a bingo game, and am so glad I did! Otherwise I might never have personally known the joy of natural looking bouncy curls that hot rollers give. We’ve all seen the effects of hot rollers gone too far when hair comes out looking over the top and I think that’s why I didn’t try them before, but playing around with my new hot rollers, I realised that you can create hairstyles that are natural and give volume without looking too much at all.

I’ve found that my hot rollers fit in with my morning routine just fine, so getting great everyday styles for work has been a breeze.

**There’s a sprinkling of about 12 blogs on our site that are my friends and family’s experiences with hot rollers. I wanted to find out what their thoughts were about the particular hot rollers they’ve been using, or just started using.

I’m** not ashamed to say I am very high maintenance, not as in ‘I give my boyfriend a hard time’, but I take pride in my appearance and I put a lot of effort into maintaining it. It takes me two hours to get ready in the morning, but I don’t mind at all, because I like to look my best every day, and I’m proud of that.

I recently got a new set of hot rollers by Clairol, and I have found that they curl my hair in half the time my old ones did, which means that my morning routine is potentially a lot less time-consuming. I’ve always been a fan of the bouncy curls that hot rollers give, so use them most days and now that they take half the time I love them even more! Now I can paint my nails to match my outfits in the time that I used to spend on my hairstyles, so my morning routine still takes two hours, I just get more done!

I’ve always had dead straight hair, not one kink anywhere to be seen & doubly unfortunately for me (I really like, and WANT wavy bouncy curls) is I have a total impatience when it comes to standing around curling my hair with my hot iron (I do like it from time to time)…………………………but now I found my hot rollers I have so much more time so I can start getting ready for my evening out much closer to walking out the door time! Always a bonus…..

So far, I’ve found the best thing to do is shower, brush my hair, then straight away put in my hot rollers for beautiful curl definition (my hair’s not wet cause I’ve usually washed my hair earlier that day) Then I do my makeup & get dressed. By the time that’s all done my hot rollers have cooled. Out they come and a little tip- try not to brush your hair again- you want your curls to stay nice and bouncy. If you feel you really have to- run your fingers through your hair instead of combing.

Then Wa-La- wavy hair ready to hit the town……

Conair Hot Rollers

What I like about Conair is they not only offer a travel size hot roller set but they also have different colored rollers too. Get a set with different sizes also to get that 'el natural' look.

I’ve wished for long wavy hair with big beautiful curls for a long as I can remember. You know the kind…. where people in the movies just wake up with perfect natural looking waves??!!

I love using my hair straightener from time to time but I can see it damages my hair after so much long term use. And I usually find the standing around trying to get it done is all a bit time consuming too. That’s when I decided to try some heated hair rollers I’d heard so much about.

I personally ended up getting a set by Conair cause I can get a bit stuck on color…they had the color rollers I wanted….ok I know, but I love color in my life! (and they had them in travel size too!) But my friends who intro’d me to the heated rollers use other brands and they get the same results.

Just one tip- look for a set with different size rollers for achieving different size waves. It really makes a big difference in the overall look of your hair, you want it to look natural too!
